After Peter 'Cockhead' Kenyon's comments yesterday about how magnificent his money-blowing team is, our new captain had this to say;"I think we will be around, Manch*ster United too. We also now have the European champions in our league, and I would like them to challenge too," TH14 told Arsenal TV On-Line.
"It would be more interesting if they can come along too. It would be better.
"It is strange for me to say that, but I think it is more interesting if you have five or six teams in the race.
"So I just hope for the sake of the league, and of English football, that we are going to have a great competition next year, to create even more trouble for Chel*ea."
He also spoke about his new role as skipper;
"I have played under Tony [Adams] and under Patrick, and if I can be a mix of the two then that would be good."
"You have to be involved in everything, to go around and ask the players if they agree on certain stuff.
"But the most important thing for me is to led the team out on to the pitch and make sure I can be someone they can both talk to and listen to.
"When you are a skipper, that is the most difficult thing - to have the respect of your team-mates. Let's hope that can be the case and we can all pull together the same way."
I'm glad Thierry is captain, BUT, I do hope that the added pressure doesn't have an impact on his game...

Isaakson. (Crossing toes). It is a bit disconcerting how public our transfer business has been this summer. It's usually cloak and dagger stuff. I suppose it because the targets were much higher profile. But I liked how Wenger sprang them upon us, like a surprise Christmas present. And you weren't disappointed by what you didn't get, because you didn't even know Santa was thinking about it.
Aye, it's a bit weird that our transferbusiness has been all over the papers, I too liked the way of previous seasons when you actually didn't know squat about who was lined up. Might have been because we didn't have that many lined up but anyways it's been to public this time around and that only attracts attention from potential competitives for the players signature.
It's interesting how arsenal.com has been sort of leading the speculation with comments from Wenger. It suggest that some of the media attention was wanted by the club, maybe to show that we are competitive.
