Adebayor: "You Can't Refuse a Club Like Arsenal"

Monaco hitman Emmanuel Adebayor has reiterated his desire to leave the club.

Earlier he said "Things can't go on like this. I must leave. I want respect. I have propositions from great clubs like Arsenal and Paris St. Germain. I feel they trust me. You can't refuse a club like Arsenal. It is useless to keep an unhappy player against his will..."

The guy looks a lot like Kanu if you ask me - but I haven't seen him play that much.

What's he like?

Dont know much about him. He does strike a resemblence to Kanu, but this guy is very good in the air. If Wenger does move to sign him then i would expect Adebayor to be used as a super sub perhaps most of the time, especially when we need late goals and need to be direct, or he could start the more physical games to give us something different to worry defences.

He speaks as if Arsenal have contacted him so this is probably more than idle speculation. If so im glad Arsene is realising the need for something else up front when are silky slowing football fails, and it will at times.

True...a 'Plan B' is needed at times, especially in Europe.

I got chatting to a French guy a while back and started to quiz him about some of the Frenchies Aresnal have been linked with.

He said Adebayor was promising but a bit wasteful and occasionally greedy. So yeah, sounds A LOT like Kanu.

Yes in europe in particular, where teams work us out seemingly very quickly we do need an alternative. I remember the 2nd leg against Bayern, the last 20 minutes we tried the direct approach, but we had NO ONE up front who could win headers, which we desperately needed. Also we rarely threaten from set pieces or crosses and we struggle defending set pieces. Some extra height and heading ability would be invaluable and a sensible move by Arsene.

I have doubted him this summer, but he isnt stupid.

Wenger has moved to praise 3 Porot players he was impressed with, including Benni Mcarthy. Is it just me, or would he be a terrific signing for us. He is technically good enough to blend into our classy play, but also brilliant in the air, so could offer a different route to goal.

Anyone have any views?

I've never really thought of McCarthy to be honest...he's a good player - was it him who scored to knock ManUre out of the CL last season or the season before?

having seen adeboyor play i can tell you he plays behind a main striker he is big and strong and good in the air but also rather rash with his passing and wastes a lot of shots, i don't think he is ready to play for us RVP is a lot better than him, although i think that RVP is more a striker than centre forward

Yes he did knock United out, was an amazing header, ive not seen much better.

Personally i think he would be excellent, and would get plenty of goals aswell.

Holding midfielder Meireles also impressed AW. He looked a good prospect with a fine range of passing. He also spoke of Gonzalez the winger. Keep your eyes on these 3. They wouldnt be expensive.

That Babel player for Ajax looked pretty useful as well.

Yes Babel looked to have immense quality for an 18 year old. I can see a queue of the best teams in europe forming for him sooner rather than later.
