Captain Fantastic Backs Le Boss
Probably nothing you guys don't already know by now - so I'll keep it brief. In a nutshell our new skipper Thierry trusts AW to deliver.
"I'm sure Arsene has a few things up his sleeve," Thierry told The Sun. "There's no doubt that he will sign some more players that few people have heard of. But they will go on to become great players.
"Of course it's a blow to lose Patrick, you can't hide from that.
"But as we saw last season, alongside Patrick there are lots of able youngsters. They showed a lot of quality and are getting better.
"More importantly you have to trust Arsene Wenger. How can you not trust a man who has won four FA Cups and three league titles?
"He has proved he has a fantastic eye for a player. No-one had heard of Patrick Vieira when he signed."
As the saying goes....Arsene knows!

I am delighted Henry is skipper and i guess its nice to hear that he ahs faith in the boss while some fans, including myself have doubted him over the past 10 days or so.
I agree signing Beast would take some pressure off Henry and that can only be a good thing, especially as he is now captain too so he has extra pressure to cope with.
There aren't enough superlatives to heap upon this fine leader of men. Basically the best player on the planet is telling us that if he can put his trust in Le boss, who the fuck are we to doubt his genious. Once again Thierry, great timing, great player, great love of ours. No prima donner rantings about no ambition, no champions league trophy blah blah blah this man is an example to players and fans alike and I love him for it. He could name his price anywhere in the world, but he actually feels privalidged to be playing for the mighty Arsenal. I salute you king Henry, and people like you are the reason I lay out my hard earned every year to follow the team.
Now I love Henry more than ever. Everyone thought he would be unhappy following Vieira's departure but he just demonstarted the reason why Wenger chose him to be the team captain! He deserves it.
I don't think the team will have a major problem this year because last year we played better without Vieira.
Football is our religion. Henry is our God.
AMEN!
Its a massive year this for Thierry. He is now the captain as well as our best player and we will rely on him more than ever to be our catalyst for good things.
Now with a squad younger than ever he has to be even more of a mentor on and off the pitch.
I worry that too much pressure may be heaped upon our main man and would like Arsene to reinforce the ranks with a signing or two, but it does not seem as if that will happen.
Henrys had his best pre-season preparation in many a year, but i still fear he will be burnt out by Xmas which is why i really hope Wenger gets Baptista.
If baptista gets to hear what the arsenal fans are saying about him he will hardly jump at the chance of joining!! I feel sorry for the guy as us gooners are listening to the papers & how often do they get anything right. When you hear what wenger said yesterday then you realise that when it gets to august he is entitled to his spanish passport, he can then join arsenal & he will still be entitled to his passport as he would have worked in spain for the required two years. Maybe he does want to join maybe he doesn't but lets all get off his back until he makes an official statement or wenger lets us know whats happening. Lets face it unless sevilla sell one of their non EU players someone will have to be left out for the season & even though he is a massive player for them they want him out cos of next summers reduced fee, so it could well be him who misses out.
forget baptista hs heart is set on barca or madrid.
south american players dream of playing for either of those two not english clubs.
he has already shown his desire to stay in spain.
we should go and buy ANELKA back. he has all the talent and under WENGERS guidence he will again become one of the most feared strikers in europe. Henry has stated on previous occasions that he would have loved to have played with anelka at Arsenal. he would be half the price and a player with a point to prove to Arsenal and himself, also with the world cup looming it would make sense for him.
come on Arsenal get market savvy and snap up a bargain.

I've thought that about Anelka myself...he's older now, has less attitude - and under AW's wing he could really shine I think. Especially with TH14 next to him...any thoughts?
yes i have a thought... NO!!!!!!!!!! hes a wanker!
i think that it is also very important that henry has very good relations with most players unlike viera.
i agree nick is a tosser waste of sperm!!! i think we should bring back the big lad kev camball.
you are kidding about Anelka forsure right? could you imagine? I'd sooner welcome Baptista with open arms - even with all these shenannigans. I think Anelka loves the money more & fallen out of love with the game, not knocking Turkish football (ok so i'm about to!) but Fenerbache? why? He's got too much attitude, did anyone see him when he signed for Fener? did you see the face on it - he didnt look like he wanted to be there. I think Anelka would be about as welcomed at The Arsenal as a pork sausauge in Shite Hart Lanes canteen.
OK...I take it back...no Anelka!!! ;o)
Is it just me or wouldn't MR OWEN be a perfect partner for Henry....ok, he doesn't score too many with his head but the football we play would suit him down to the ground! ...quick passing, through balls... owen would love to come back to the premiership...he doesn't wanna step down to a lower club like Newcastle so we would be perfect for him...and he would be perfect for us!
Plus they have just signed Robinho (ronaldo's best mate) so doesn't this make PERFECT sense??????
Owen would be IDEAL...just what we need. I reckon with the kind of service he would get, he would score 20-25+ per season.
Eros...I'm having probs with my acct at the mo aswell....
exactly nyssie... lets get this band-wagon started!!!!
its true though. I cant believe we haven't been properly linked with him yet...especially with the on-going Bap saga.
Hes a good goalscorer, suits the way we play and is the perfect role model for our youngsters. AW wouldn't exactly have any problems with him!
Owen and BALLACK (hes another one i cant believe we haven't been linked with!!)
Both of them wouldn't cost too much and would make a MASSIVE difference to our squad.
any thoughts?
Ballack is another player who would be VERY hand to have...unfortunately I heard this morning thats he has no intention of leaving Bayern.
Owen on the other hand...well, he's gotta realise that with Robinho on board at Real Madrid he's gonna find it harder and harder to get a game...and a player of that calibre should NOT be sitting on the bench week in week out.
On Ballack - i've read the he doesn't want to leave Bayern and wants to be part of their assault on German league & Euro - cant see Bayern wanting him to leave either - also for some strange reason he's been linked to Manchester Red Sox? Go figure. It's a shame old Marco Van afro oops sorry van Bommel has gone to barca, he would be ideal 1for1 replacement for PV4, even tho he kick lumps out of us when play for PSV.
Owen - i would mos def take tho, do you reckon all his 'i dont wanna leave Real' is just smoke? Cant believe he thinks he'll get anymore games this season and with the World Cup coming up - OId Sven will want his main man playing
Good point tommigooner...Sven will defo want all his squad playing regular football.
I'm not sure with all this 'we gotta get Baptista' stuff - I have no idea what he plays like, i dont watch enough Spanish football. But we NEVER play a target man, when AW first came the 1st thing he done was shift John Hartson (ok granted he wasn't the greatest). I must admit i'm sick to death of our Plan A football and nothing else, ok thats an exaggeration i love it when it goes to plan but against tight defences we should sometimes throw the ball in the mixer - not beautiful but effective. The 1st game against Bayern last year I was tearing my hair out & I'm bald! But we all know AW loves the ball on the floor...
Re: redfunkyfish - same as fella... when the all goes well we look like a wheel oiled machine when we dont it looks disfunctional. One of the best descriptions I've heard is the Arsenal machine is like a Ferrari - on a flat road its wicked on bumpy ground it has problems or something like that - hell i might even just made it up
but anyway I must admit that Tel coming out & saying what he did is perfect timing, I think we can trust him. I think him being captain will (or should) unite us, dont get me wrong but with your captain constantly being linked with a move away isnt good for morale & i've lost count how many times Tel says he loves London life most of all The Arsenal.
but just one thing had anyone really heard of Reyes when we signed him? I knew about him constantly being linked but never seen him play and we paid or will pay anything from £10m-17m for him - maybe he's given AW the inside track on this Baptista fella..

oh STOP THE PRESS....
as we all knew this Baptista story was gonna have another episode & this could be the defining moment - just seen this on Sly Sports...
Sevilla star Julio Baptista has admitted he is not keen on moving to Arsenal with Real Madrid also now having emerged as contenders for his signature.
Baptista, known as 'The Beast', is Arsenal's top transfer target and The Gunners have dispatched vice-chairman David Dein to Spain to try and thrash out a deal for the Brazilian.
"There are many factors against it (moving to Arsenal)," Baptista told Marca.
"I would have to leave Spain and adapt to another league in World Cup year and I believe I have a good chance of playing in it."
GREAT!! fcking let's sign up Owen or was that the game all along - Arsene Knows!
Nyssie.. sorry fella if you was gonna do a blog on that Baptista story.. but as you said before that you weren't gonna touch it with a shitty wooden stick... thgt I'd let the fella's know...
I hope this Baptista transfer is put in the rubbish bin soon as obviously all the fans are more than pissed off with this fucking saga!!! If the guy was happy with coming to Arsenal, surely he would have signed up by now - it is obvious that we have been used by him and his agents to stir up interest from Rio Madrid and/or Barcelona and that is why the Spanish passport situation is important to him.I hope that Wenger and DD tell him to stuff himself soon before we make the club a complete laughing stock. There surely must be other players out there who could fill that midfield/stiker role which Wenger has in mind who would jump at the chance of playing for one of the worlds greatest clubs!!
No prob tommigooner. Nice one! ;o)
Like I said earlier BAPTISTA does not want to leave spain and now he has confirmed this. he holds all the aces seville cant make him sign for Arsenal and in one year he can get a fat signing on fee from barca or real and seville will get euro 4mill.
Owen cannot fit into Arsenals sysytem cos he is not a one touch player. he cahses balls over the top and we dont play that way.
ANELKA is the best bet now. i hope Wenger has him as back should the bap bid fails as looks like it will.
Anelka scored 15 goals last year playing for crap manshitty.
