Sol Man to Miss Start of Season

Sol is going to miss the start of the season. He is still being troubled by an on-going calf injury that kept him out at the end of last season.

"Sol is injured, simple as that," said Le Boss.

"It is difficult for him to miss pre-season because he had trouble last year as well.

"He was never completely fit last season and for me it is a big worry because it means he cannot have a normal preparation.

"He needs that preparation and it is very annoying for him as well.

"Hopefully he will be able to start working on his fitness again next week.

"But because Sol has not played for so long, it is impossible that he will be able to start the season."

Don't worry guys and gals - we've got Kolo and Big Phil Senderos! I'm sure we'll be fine....!

Sol's long term injuries of last year were pivotal in us succumbing to Chelski in last year's title race. We are though better prepared for this season due to the emergence of Senderos. Philippe and Toure have formed a fine partnership, so beginning the season without Sol will be manageable.

However, if one of Kolo or Philippe get injured then we are looking very weak indeed. Cygan on his own is actually a decent performer, but it is the effect he has on the defence as a whole that means he weakens the side considerably.

I would like to see Arsene sign Christanval, maybe on a years contract just as extra cover. I am sure he is better than Cygan, the man has played for Barca after all. As for Alex Song, although he can play in defence, Wenger has clearly been using him as a midfielder during his trial so it does not appear that he is a viable option.

I hope Sol is fit soon, because he and Senderos would be the ideal mix of experience and up and coming class. They would definitely be our first choice partnership at the back and it looks solid. So get fit soon Sol!

I reckon this could be a make or break season for the Solman, especially with the World Cup around the corner. He was poor last season it was just our luck Senderos shone & we didnt have to rely on 'Les idiot' Cygan. But I dont see Sol warming the bench for Senderos or anyone for that matter. He's got a lot to prove he's fallen behind in the pecking order not only for country but possibly for club as awell.

I agree he has fallen behind in the pecking order as regards to England, but if he is fit, there is no doubt that he will play for Arsenal. He missed out on the FA Cup Final as he had been injured for a while and Wenger kept his faith with form.

Sol will definitely get his chance when he is fit, and i'd expect him to keep his place and form an exciting partnership with Senderos.

It looks as though that IF he does go to the world cup, it will be as cover for Terry the Bionic Man Cunt (I really hope he gets injured this year - See how Chelski cope without one of their main men) and Rio the greedy twat Ferdinand.

agreed - as much as this hurts to say - Terry has got the nod over Solman in internation terms. But Sol is still world class and he will be back - just wish the fcker would stop getting injured. Theres a lot of talk it being him & Senderos being the chosen No: 1 at the back with Toure possible moving into midfield - however not witnessed him playing there in the friendlies so not sure how that would work.

Just turning to Baptista for a minute, you would have to assume that if the Sevilla chairman is telling the truth about arsenal doubling their original offer, then Baptista must have told wenger he would be happy to join us when they spoke, otherwise this whole episode would be a waste of time & I cannot honestly see wenger doing that. However if sevilla have rejected that offer then I think arsenal will probably tell them to forget it as they are being more than a bit greedy considering he can leave for barcelona next summer for 800K meaning a loss of nearly 14 million.

message to The Dil,

that Bayern game where Kolo made those two fck off mistakes, can you rememeber who he had besides him? yep that Cygan! Kolo's own game is good but even if you look when Solman is playing - its as if they play for two people cos they have to cover Cygans mistakes as well.. you can tell just by looking that they aint 100% & you dont need that at the back. I dont think Kolo made many mistakes last season - obviously the one against Bayern sticks in the mind tho.

guys on the christanval trial he is injured and is not likley to figure in the 1st match in the amsterdam tourney, he has the same problem that he got released by marseille for, he is good cover so i hope he can recover, i saw Hleb against rizting on the net and all i can say is that he is going to be an excellent player for us he can dribble like th14 and he has great vision as well not quite DB10 standard but i will tell you this we will not miss vieira as much as i thought,as for sol he is very fragile now and we will never get 30 games a season out of him, and like anelka replacing ian wright i think senderos will replace him,

Mr Serge if you watched the ritzing game you would have seen that christanval (however spelt) played the full 90 minutes!! he missed the weiz game through injury but is back now. however his trial ends before the amsterdam tournament so unless we sign him do not expect to see him or song!!

Toure, Senderos and hopefully Chistenval.

That's fine by me. We don't need Sol fit all the time anymore.

I'm quite relaxed about this, to be honest.
