Kanoute Rates Diarra

Spud hitman Fredi Kanoute has reportedly claimed that 24 year old Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra could go some way to filling the recently departed Patrick Vieira'a boots.

"There is a little bit of a comparison with Vieira. They both have good ability on the ball, they defend well and they are strong," he told the Evening Standard.

"He's also a competitive guy and really likes a good challenge. He is the complete player in the sense that he recovers well and chases a lot of balls. But his passing skills are also very good.

"It's very rare when you can see a player who can do so much. He has proven he can do it in the Champions League. He's a ball winner but for him it's not just about defending, he attacks as well and is capable of delivering very good balls for the strikers."

To be perfectly honest, I'm not too familiar with his work - and can we trust anything from the mouth of a T*ttenham player?!?!

What d'ya reckon?

Only seen him in Champs League matches and he seemed solid enough. I suppose any deal would hinge on what happens with Essien and Chelski. If he goes then I don't think Houllier will want Diarra to leave.

What ever happened about le Guen? I heard that he was considered for a coaching role for the Gunners a while ago. Can't imagine a successful manager reverting to a coaching role.

How much is Diarra worth?

I saw diarra play last year he is not a box to box player like vieira he is more of a makeleleleleski kind of player PV4 was a very dynamic player who was a holding/playmaker all the other guys we are linked with are either holders or playmakers except for davids who is to old, jenas is a box to box player but he will cost to much, and does not have the aggresion maybe we have a replacement for PV4 in Hleb he is a playmaker and i think arsene will convert him to central midfield,

Diarra has just signed a new contract with Lyon he had a get out clause of 3 million in his old contract i beleive that a bid of around 6 mill will get him but houlier wont let him go if he sells essien, on Le Guen wenger wanted him to take over as arsenal boss when the great one went upstairs in 4 years but le guen did not want to be "just a coach" for that long

I hope we get him, then Lyon won't sell Essien! W00t!

Aren't the prices of English players totally ridiculous? Player prices in general are too high i know but if there is an English player with potential and a few caps then the price goes through the roof. Jenas for £20m?!?! Its no wonder that Le Boss has to look elsewhere especially after the Wright/Jeffers shambles. SWP is a fine, fine player and I would dearly have loved to have seen him in an Arsenal shirt but at that price? Don't think so. I think Scott Parker was a bargain though. He would have done a good job for us I think

yes english players are well overpriced as soon as you get a cap you put 10 million on your price tag it starts with the top 4 teams in any league and works its way down though, why would arsenal sell ashley cole to man utd and make them stronger if the can sell that player abroad! in italy they do not have this problem juve would sell their best player to milan for the right price, this is because top italian players will only play in italy and not move abroad until they are getting to the age of getting their last big contract ie 28-29,then they move to la liga or the prem.ie zola, vialli, ravanelli.

I must admit I had a quick read of one of the Sp*rs blogs the other day and they were having similar discussions to us on who they are signing. Fucking hilarious some of them. Baptiste was one, obviously he has a burning desire to go to a mid table pile of shite that hasn't won the league in coulour, when major clubs are also chasing his signature. Guti was another...that seems feasible considering all bigger clubs he would like to join have now made it clear they dont want him. Reality is, that they'll sign another 20 odd players that nobody has ever heard of and reach mid-table mediocrity again before claiming that they are on the up. Why has nobody ever investigated that Levy bloke about money laundering too. Classic signs of buying anything overpriced to wash funds. Worth considering surely.

Diarra would be a good signing for us.

As the day drifts away it looks as if The Sun's story that we would sign Baptista is unfounded. Where do they get their stories from, did they read the 'guti and the beast' blog on here and thought that will fill some pages...

I would definitely take Diarra as PV4s replacement as he would proviude that physical element we lack since Vieira left.

Hate to say this as a Spurs fan, but Kanoute is just not consistent enough. He is a great player on his day, but how many times have we seen him doing the job? Hardly if you asked me. It's good that Spurs have got 4 strikers to choose from at the moment, and to be honest, I think only defoe and keane can be considered consistent. We just need to have a midfield that is consistent as well. I don't know why I'm posting this in this site, maybe i'm just too lazy to go elsewhere.

To be fair to the gooners, they are technically better than us, but that alone do not win games. We will see next season, I can see a great one for us!

4:29 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

oh and... i forgot to add... Vieira's departure shouldn't hurt Arsenal so much, after all, towards the end of last season, they played better without him.

4:31 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah it does not look good on the Baptista front! Although we are now being linked with Dacourt!! Its getting worse - Jenas, Hargreaves, Guti and now Dacourt. Whos's next - Jan Molby!?

4:35 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes we are being linked with these players, but other than Arsene saying we DONT want Guti, weve heard nothing from Arsenal about any of those linked players, so its not the clubs fault and we shouldn't get annoyed about it. If there is no quotes in the article from any of those concerned, just dismiss it as idle speculation.

What is clear the club definitely wants/wanted to sign Baptista as the boss met him and we had 2 bids rejected. So at the moment he is the only player that we have been explicitly linked to and i still remain optimistic we might sign him. Stranger things have happened.

the format of this blog is getting a bit tiresome, IMHO.

most of the news in meaningless crap. this guy signed an extention a few weeks ago. yawn fucking yawn.

Anonymous,

if you dont like it, dont bother posting, simple as that. No one else has come on here to complain. Just ignore the stories if you don't like it.

Many Arsenal fans want to discuss the new about the club, especially in such a testing important period in its history.

4:41 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm getting sick about all the speculation, I just want something concrete to happen now. The longer it goes on the less likely the Baptista deal seems yet he doesn't appear to really want to come here. Do we really want a player who's heart wouldn't really be in it? Nevertheless trust in Le Boss, take any speculation with a handful of salt an all will be well!

4:44 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well done gilio

4:44 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Only a couple of weeks Baptista said he DID want to come to England, and would want to play for us or Man USA. Thats why people remain hopeful.

I think everyone is getting sick of the speculation and only Arsenal can end it by saying 'we tried to sign him but he isnt coming', or 'we will try again', or 'we will not be trying to sign him'. Because the club have not moved to either end the speculation or show we do want him, this speculation will continue every day until the window closes.

Also this site is an excellent place for fans to share ideas. Until the season starts proper there is little in the news to be discussed apart from mainly bogus speculation and friendles. so stop bitching about it Anon!

Nyssie - Good work!

Sevilla's manager has now said he wants to keep Baptista. I am sure he does as hes a vital player, but the manager is not as important as Sevilla's money men, who will still surely accept an offer for the Beast. Why arent we at least trying to sign this player we clearly want. Maybe we are, maybe something will happen soon. Who knows...

Is this going to be the season where Reyes shows his abundant talent more consistently? Where do you think he will play? I'm not sure that Le Boss is convinced he can be relied upon as a striker. RVP should be first choice - providing he gets the all clear. Hopefully Reyes won't suffer from seasonal form changes again!

Battling for the Uefa cup with you in a couple if years time will be interesting. Ashburton half full. Heh.

Absolutely fucking hilairious reading all that you gunner twats have to say. So you still think your the best team in England eh? News flash scum, you're not even the best team in London anymore! Get real and accept its all down hill from now on, you've had your fifteen minutes in the lime light but face it, it aint coming back for a while. Still, you'll all be able to read the history books to console yourselves on what a reasonable side you once were. The four of you that can read that is.
P.S. I understand that a great many of you are fond of a masculine "arse"? Well you'll have plenty of time next season looking UP at ours.

All the best........Yido.

Fuck me you chelsea tw@ts are funny b@stards. Most of you have only been following them what, a year or two? Most of you were probably Manure fans before that.

The only reason you won is because you spent ridiculous amounts of money and that is how everyone will remember it. I hate Manure as much as any other Gooner but I can appreciate that the club was built up and the team was built up.

The fact is Chelsea would have done fuck all unless the Russian thief took over. Its kind of like visiting a prostitute for sex because you can't develop like everyone else. You have sex in the end but you've paid for it. Not really the same is it?
