Sol Going Nowhere

Just a quickie....AW has stated Sol is not going anywhere. Nothing we didn't already know, but I guess he's gotta squash these reports before they get out of hand!

"I am not willing to sell him," he told Arsenal.com.

"I want him to come back to fitness and play for us.

"At the moment, he can't do that but he is a part of my plans.

"I very much want Sol to come and fight for us."

So there you go...

i think its good news, quality player to support the likes of senderos and co, also a big player and a great leader to the youngsters will become even more importnat now that vieira has gone

Do you think that it would be a good time to sell Sol now while he is still worth someting. Senderos is proving his worth, and maybe by getting 7mil for him, we may bring in someone with less injury trouble.

dont agree with you, in a time where we have lost one of the most influential players in the team it would not be a good idea to get rid of another great player and leadey. Its not like we are short of cash at the minute anyway

What about Philippe Christanval? Has he been doing alright so far on trial? Would it be better to cash in on Sol now and use Christanval as back up to Senderos, and maybe look at another defender? Any thoughts....

Fair point with Sol. With PV gone, to lose another now could be costly, even if he doesn't play.

christanval is good, when hes fit problem is hes constantly injured which is why he was released from marseille

We'd be lucky to get 7 mill for sol at his age. I hope he stays for life and we ease him out of the squad like we did with Tony Adams. Sol staying is good news.

I love the Sol man, he rocks,

christanval is good, but hes injured more than woodgate, this is why he was released from marseille, and guess what,

hes injured again.

ambrose i was put straight on that one (christanval)apparently he played the whole 90 mins against rizting, and on him being more injured than woodgate thats not quite right he played 37 games in 2 seasons for marseille,i think they wanted him off the wages,he was on 35k a week at l'om and arsenal are only willing to pay him 15k per week, woodgate is the second most injury prone player in history behind darren spudulike anderton

As we all know, defences are based on relationships.

I think the Toure/Campbell/Lehmann situation fell apart last season. I wonder if it was ever that solid, even through the unbeaten season.

I think Toure/Senderos/Lehmann looks more solid. They can cope better in the air.

Senderos attacks the ball in the air, and that is the key. Toure plays off him. Together, they stopped leaking goals at set pieces. That was our weakness for a long time.

We stopped conceding those inevitable late equalisers once Senderos appeared. Lehmann looked more comfortable and we started winning close games.

Strange though, as Sol is good in the air too.

With Senderos, we kept lots of clean sheets and looked capable of "hanging in there" for points. Most noticeably in the home game against Munich and the Cup Final.

We beat Munich 1-0 despite being largely outclassed, and we could have even gone through with a bit of luck. The key word is resilience. If we have resilience then we'll do much better in Europe for starters.

Sure, Senderos can get turned. He's a big clumsy lad on the deck at times, but like all good stoppers he'll learn to adapt. He's much better in possession than Sol or Adams.

Chistenval could be a key squad player. I hope we sign him.

sol going would be a disaster for us. our squad has been severly weakened by the loss of PV and edu.
that is a lot of experience to lose. its good to have yoof but in tight and vicious games you need big game players and the yoof will take tinme to aquire that.

christenval may have been good but a name does not mean he can still perform at the level that he performed when he was being attributed with plaudits such as the next BLANC.

our squad is weak and still too young we need players who will be able to last the campaign not be injured for most of the year.

As we are having problems with the beast situation we should consider bringing ANELKA back to Arsenal.

proven goal scorer at half the price.

anyway as everyone knows

Christanval is shit, anyone remember him at Barca ? If he was so good why the fuck would he be on trial ? Selling Vieira is a mistake and selling sol would be a mistake too. The thing is with you people in 10 years time if Senderos is still with us you'll be saying we should cash in because he's 30.. and the same with Henry when he reaches 32..33..and the same with fabregas when he reaches 29.. Do you get my point... you are fickle.
