RVP May Feature in Cardiff

Le Boss has revealed that RVP may play against Chel$ki in the Community Shield in Cardiff on Sunday.

"He will be considered like any other player," AW said. "It is all down to his fitness.

"This (against Beveren) was his first game because he was given some extra holiday, but he has my full support.

"We must accept that he is still under investigation, but at the moment he is innocent."

Putting the case to one side, what do we think of RVP?

Does AW ultimately think of him as a "striker"?

With Alidiere in Scotland he is Thierry's understudy this season.

Some say he is the "new Dennis" - but bear in mind that Dennis, at Robin's age, was more of a goalscoring striker with 20 - 30 goals a season...

I can perhaps see RVP as an accomplished striker, scoring 20 goals a season. He seems to be a good finisher, and can score from long range. However, he would need forget about playing on the left and build up strength, learn to put himself about and win freekicks etc.

All this could take a few seasons. Is he worth the investment?

Right now I'm higher on RVP than I am on Reyes - he's got such a great eye for goal, skill that actually works, a cannon of a shot, and a real 'fuck you' attitude.

Yes, he's the real deal. And yes, if he plays regularly he'll get 20 goals this year.

I agree RVP can score at least 20 goals a season. RVP has a fantastic ball control and he kicks the ball pretty accurately. RVP is also quick, alot of people think he is slow. Watch him when he is not with the ball then you will know what I am talking about.

I'm with everyone else on this one. RVP seems to be the real deal and could be just the sort of player we need in the coming season. obviously AW knows more than i do but i do see him as a striker and a perfect partner for Thierry. He can score, has great vision for through balls and takes a pretty decent free kick. nice to have someone who can take a corner for a change too!! lets just hope we have someone to get on the end of them. something we've seriously lacked since Adams retired. We earn countless amounts of corners and hopefully we can start to make the most of them. Bring on Chelsea on Sunday and anyone else in the coming season. The future's bright. At least I hope it is!! by the way, good call from the gun about our future striker and midfield combination. that does look exciting

Before we forget, Reyes is a very good player. His work ethic is high and apart from his attacking ability, he also very good defensive game. He was kicked all over the place last year. I don't think Manchester United will do it again. Why? He last game, I think he showed them his dark side.

Is it me but Lauren is a bit volatile on the pitch. I can almost imagine trowing a huge pounce at someone.

Hey! I'm sure we agree on loads more than we disagree on.

So another slow Arsenal-sign-world-class-midfielder news day then.

mow i think RVP is going to be a superstar he has more of an eye for goal than bergkamp but not as creative,he is definately worth the investment

seeing as nothing much is happening in the world of arsenal transfers today (and any other day come to think of it), thought i'd share a few other things we may agree on MoW: Van Nistelrooy is a horse faced cunt, Fergie is a red faced alcoholic who's a complete wanker, Kenyon is a bald tosser and Mourinho is a little shit who talks shit. A lot. Agree?

I agree, RVP cost less than £3m, what a bargain. I can see him being worth about £30m in the future. I think he would be a top striker in the future.

I think we fans should forget about Chelsea, they can say whatever they trying to get into our heads, like Benitez said Chelsea are afraid. Jose talks like a fool anyway. When Arsenal enjoy their game they play well. Chelsea wants Arsenal to change their game which is possible if the player let what Chelsea say get into their head.

Good work Jack. We agree!!!

I have softened very slightly on Utd since Chelski took their title of biggest cunts in football. Kenyon and JM are just so cheap and classless. The more smug they get, the more i'm happy because i know it will make their fall more spectacular!

At least Fergie has put a lot into the game and has some talent, even if he a senile drunkard twat who talks shite.

i heard that RVP was rated the best young talent in holland, ahead of Van Der Vart (came 2nd) and Robben (3rd) by none other than Marco van basten who was ajax coach at the time when all three were playing in holland. Like i said i heard

Jack, I'm not that bothered about Owen. yeah, we will take some of the pressure off our captain, but i hope he's not intended to paper over the cracks elsewhere in the squad.

there's not much in the story. he clearly would prefer us to the scum, everton and NU. but i doubt AW is that keen unless Owen is prepared to take a wage cut.

Van Persie is a very good striker but somehow Arsene doesn't like to play him much. He rather plays Reyes as a striker even if his form is bad or pushes Ljungberg forward and keeps van Persie on the bench when our main strikers are injured.

just posted the same on the top story but i really need some feedback here!!!

This is rediculous! our team wasn't strong enough last season....and the start of the new season has arrived...and we will have the exact same lineout as last season!
I know we finished strong last season and people say our youngsters will provide sufficient cover bla bla bla - they wont, lets face it. We need to sign TWO players in the next week or we're back to square one...and without vieira.
I cant believe we haven't strengthend ALOT more...not very optimistic about the coming season at the moment...

any thoughts?

van Persie did get some games towards the end of last season but most of them were substitute appearances.
