Skulason: Brentford "Not a Step Down"

Our recently departed Icelandic international Olafur Ingi Skulason believes 'leaving' Arsenal is a good thing!

"I don't look at this move as a step down," Skulason said. "It is an opportunity to play first-team football.

"It is a chance to get my career off the ground by getting some first-team matches under my belt.

"In the reserves, you are not playing for anything as the result doesn't really matter. But at Brentford every point will count."

Brentford, not a step down? DO ME A FAVOUR!!!

I understand where he's coming from, but let's be honest....YOU WEREN'T GOOD ENOUGH FELLA!!!

UP THE GUNNERS!

No need to be harsh on the guy. He's right, it's not a step down. If I was a footballer (ha!) I'd much rather be playing for Brentford than Arsenal reserves, especially as I assume he knew he'd never break our first team.

Good luck fella, I say.

Give the the guy a break, he only got a few minutes in one game in the Carling Cup playing for Arsenal. I don´t really think he would have said it if he´d been playing for the Arsenal first team :)

Bloody hell mate, no need to slag the guy off for wanting first team football.

Do you want him to sit in the reserves for the rest of his life?

I says good on the guy for wanting to take control of his career.

Well unfortunately the guy was considered not good enough. But it seems that Wenger will be relying more on our reserve strength to get us through the forthcoming season particularly when we have injuries/suspensions.Senduros,Flamini and Fabregas fortunately for us made the grade last year. However with the exception of Eboue and Quincy, the rest of the reserves will probably be moved on at the end of next season.

What do you meen 11:03? Gilbert, Djorou, Lupoli, Bendtner, Stokes, Muamba, Smith are all 18 or younger and very highly rated by Wenger. Larsson's just signed a new contract. I don't think any of them are even over twenty, when they probably should be getting at least some first team action or need to leave on loan or permanently. Skulason, Karby, and Simek were all 21 and hadn't had more than a sniff.
