Pompey Want Bentley

Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric has confirmed that they are after David Bentley.

"He's on our list to be honest with you, on the list of two or three other players and he's one of them, but it's going to be Alain's (Perrin) decision as is every other player we bring in, so we'll see what happens there," Mandaric said.

Should we loan out Bentley for another season or should he get his chance to try and break into the first team?

He looks pretty good in pre-season, so give him a chance although Ljungberg, Pires and Hleb can all play in his position

Bently is OOOOOOzing with quality....that lad needs another season out on loan - injury free and he will be in the frame when we move to the new ground - the lad is like a little marradonna! Iv seen quite abit of Bently and he WILL be a star.

NOOOOOOO!!!!

Seems likely to me that, over the course of the season, Bentley will get plenty of starts.

There's four vacancies in midfield and eight players:
Gilberto
Cesc
Flamini
Pires
Freddy
Hleb
Reyes
Bentley

So fuck Pompey, i reckion we should keep him - it's not like we've got too many midfielders, especially when Reyes is also going to play up front.

I actually think he's an important part of the squad this year. If kids like Bentley don't weigh in with some goals and some mature performances then we're fucked.

He does have talent though: nice touch, good feet, poise, passing, shooting, English. Give the kid a run!!

Add to his list of talents: good temperament, hard working and an intellignet football brain.

All he lacks his power.

I must admit after the Baptiste fiasco,I thought Wenger would go for another transfer but every day I go on the web, like thousands of other hopeful gooners, and a BIG FAT NOTHING!! As Hunter said,it is even gone quiet on the Song,Viera and Christano fronts.West Ham apppear to be buying Adebayor who at 6'5 would give us another option up front, set pieces, etc as well as filling in for Henri when he is not playing.Everybody seems to be buying players except us (apart from Hleb)and I am sorry but I cannot share the optism of some arsenal fans that Wenger always knows best!! The squad has too many inexperienced youngsters to cover injuries and suspensions - wait to see what happens around October/November time.

Hey guys have you seen the news on planetfootball?

http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=296383&cpid=22&CLID=&lid=2&title=Gunners+fail+to+land+Dortmund+gem&channel=football_home

Haven't heard of this guy but he's 16 and supposedly the hottest talent in the Bundesliga for his age. A midfielder but Dortmund have rejected 3m euros thinking they can get a lot more for his in a few years.

More and more AW is planning for the future. We shouldn't expect too much this year - a year of transition but I think in a year or two the younger players will be firmly established. This is how we combat the infinite finances of those Chelski b@stards.

Whatdoes everyone think about the news about the £40m contract-for-life for TH14?

Just saw that legrande...never heard of him - but it sounds like he's got the skills to pay the bills!

Do we need any more teenagers though???

I take your point, we are bursting with young players but many of the older experienced players have left or are too injury prone for our comfort.

I just feel Wengers strategy is to buy the young players, have them play together and have them blend in with our more experienced performers. We still have a great team but it has massive potential because of how many youngsters are here.

If AW gets in an older stronger head in the middle of the park and a GK then I think we'll do just fine this season.

I make you right legrandesaucisse.. a stronger head in MF & GK & i think we'll do ok.. injuries to key members aside. I'm all for AW buying these youngsters but you're buying 'potential', It's all good that we are buying these youngsters who are the 'next big thing' but we also release a shitload of players each summer who were supposedly 'the next big thing' but dont make the grade. Think we released about five/six this summer alone. So it's not always going to be a 'goer' - but that's chance you take

Nyssie and legrandesaucisse i think arsene has changedtactics this year gone are the days when we will buy a lot of players 25 and over or players like owen who would undboutably be a hit at arsenal, and will buy players that are 24 and under a take a risk that they may not workout, and the reason for this is chelski we can't compete with them financially as Essien and Wright phillips shows dont tell me AW would no want them both!so what do we do wait for them to skim the cream and we take the surpluss? no we buy young nurture them in the arsenal way and they love the club and never leave ala TH14

Bentley hasn't got it, lets face it. Yes he's got a very good touch but he's like Pennant, talented with the ball in the warm up... faced with a couple of competitive defenders he doesn't know where to go or what to do...
