Cygan Closes In On Wrighty's Record!!!

Well as you all know he did, along with another two from our Skipper. The final score, 4-1. Hleb was very good - an excellent signing, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him...in fact the whole team looked better (except for Lauren's penalty cock up)!

nice to see the boys back on track last night and doing exactly what myself, westside, MoW, Serge and a few others said we'd do. we came out fighting when we were up against it and even responded brilliantly to going one down, totally against the run of play. the performance was superb and nice to see us scoring a couple of goals from free kicks. reyes was superb and personally my man of the match and clichy looked quality when he came on, as did flamini. just goes to show a bit of support for the team goes a long way. as for the people slating henry and saying he can't captain the team, i think he proved last night that he can lead by example and is perfect for the job.
Last night was an important win no doubt, but we really should be beating teams like Fulham and we did with a bit of a flourish in the end. I only saw highlights of the game, but my thoughts are:
Firstly it was great to see us playing with a bit of pace and purpose when attacking. We played nice and pretty football against Chelsea, but there was no pace so it was easy for them to cut us out. Last night though, perhaps due to the introduction of Reyes on the left, we seemed to pass quicker and run quicker, and hence Fulham could not cope. Why we didnt do this on Sunday i do not know...
Secondly it was fantastic to see us score two goals from set pieces! AT LAST, Dennis dupplied two excellent crosses and Pascal Cygan, of all people, met and scored. Interestingly on the first goal we had 3 players making the same run in a row and Cygan the last of the 3 flicked a header in. Arsene practising routines??? Surely not!
Thirdly, when it went to 0-1, we could have started to worry and get nervous, especially with Cygan in the back 4, and Fulham did have a few good chances, but this time with more pace going forward it was inevitable we would score.
Fourthly, how good was it to see our Captain show up for the 2nd half. Why it took him two and a half matches into the season to start playing as everyone knows he can bewilders me, but none the less thank fuck he turned up at last. I think AW had a word with him and told him to play as a striker and not an attacking midfielder. GOOD NEWS.
Finally, a word on the boss. He wasnt impressed with Sunday, and not many were and i am sure he saw our faults in full evidence. He IS NOT going to buy any outfield players, which i believe to be a mistake, so what he has had to do is sort out our current players. He clearly had a word with the midfield and attack, especially our skipper, and has obviously been focusing on ways to knick cheap goals that Chelsea and Man USA score with great regularity from set pieces and corners. Last night we scored not one, BUT TWO goals from set pieces! Long may that continue.
Last nights win certainly does not paper over the cracks as far as i am concernes. I still think we need a player in each area of the pitch, but we are not going to get it other than a much needed keeper. So Arsene, amongst his players has got to find different routes to goal, and last night it worked against a Fulham side who look serious contenders for relegation. Next game will be a big one against Boro who have a good team, a solid defence and will be highly confident having swatted Birmingham aside 3-0 on tuesday.
Its a sahme we have to wait 2 weeks for our next game.
anon 10:16, any reason you've copied and pasted the same post on 3 different blogs now? or have you just run out of other things to say?
and anon10:19, check out yesterdays blog about thierry. quite a few gooners on there so it really backs up your point.
i understand what your saying but it would be nice if we could all just leave it now and have decent football discussions. its getting quite boring now constantly having to read about a woman with a penis and no money. we all know that no one can prove anything on these sites so lets just forget about it. Agreed?
I can't be bothered with this little dick all day...I'm deleting any comments he makes so we can get on and discuss footie...
i wondered where the fuck that mssage went!! thought i was seeing things!!
I was really pleased for Pascal last night and especially happy with the crowd singing the 'There's only one Cygan', chant, even if it was a little bit of a piss take. You could tell that it was a huge lift for him, and he was like a man posessed for the remaining minutes. A little bit of love goes a long way!
rae i am not a liar mate i dont want to be stalked, every body on this site told me not to give details so i didnt, well done nyssie the dick really gets on my nerves i def think he is a schoolboy, as for last nights game we played well and there is only 1 pascal cygan hahahahaaa
He's definitely a kid Serge...a little shit at that. Dunno why I didn't think to delete the little prick's comments before...oh well...THERES ONLY ONE PASCAL CYCLOPS!!!!
;o)
Fair point Jack...I think the thing about Serge has been proven.
Have a good blog...Shame others are not as rational as yourself.
nyssie he gets on my nerves i am sure you can block his ip address anyway! as for cygan he played well last night i never went to the game because of work commitments, but the north bank were chanting we got pascal cygan, which is hilarious
jack we all called it right everton will get it on the weekend as well they will be down after getting KO from villareal, hleb had a good game last night he looks like he has played for us for years
is anyone else amazed that Uefa still put us in the top ranks of european football. We are shit in the Champions League and yet still we are rated higher than Chelsea who are genuine contenders. Weird
the team responded much MUCH better than the fans did after being 1-0 down.
whose supposed to be lifting who?
Is it me, or does little shit think he's being clever by logging in as other people....
its the shit system they've got in place but fuck it, it works in our favour!! think its all because we're in every year and never have to go through the preliminary rounds. although we don't ever do well, we are actually one of the few teams who've been in it every season for the last 8 seasons without ever having to qualify so we get rewarded for that. which is nice!!
true, cant see us doing anything in it this year though, it could be our last year as a top seed.
Cygan was voted PFA player of the year in his last season in france.
can anyone see him having a blinding season or do you think he fundamentally lacks the necessary tools.
He fundamentaly lacks the neccesary tools. Remember thats he was playing in the lower division in france
cygan is a decent defender he plays well for 88 mins then makes a mistake which usually costs us and he has a lack of pace he is not good enough to play for us and yes nyssie i think the little fuckpig chav is trying to be other posters oh what a fun life he must have!!!!
