Bob's Not Made His Mind Up

Just come back from the barbers, (not that you needed to know that!) and while I was there I heard on the radio that Bobby is still considering an offer from Galatasaray.

He has apparently said "I received a proposal from the Turkish president. It is very interesting, I will study it. It offers me a three-year contract and I do not close the door on anybody."

Watch this space...

Bob is an excellent poacher and has the knack of being at the right time and place to slide the ball home. Trouble is he is old and is way past his prime. We can't afford to let him go though unless we get a good experienced replacement for him.

Having said that, if somebody tables an offer of 7milions+, it might be well worth the money.

I am still hoping the Arsene has got one or two tricks up his sleeve: mainly a solid all round CB (Senderos is still young, Sol is injury prone, I never rated Kolo as a CB, just look at his Champions League performances and dont even get me started on Cygan) and a solid midfielder. Lets face it, with Edu and Viera out, and our defense is by all counts still crap compared to Chelsea's, we wont win the league this season. We lack serious depth in defense and Midfield. I'd rather we spend 12million on a solid CB as a first priority as opposed to chasing the Ballacks, Owens and what have u of this world.

I think we should keep Bob without a doubt - in the end, how much cash will we get for him anyway now he's in the last year of his contract?

his goals are worth too much - 3rd top scorer in the premiership last season - you don't let people like that go.

In the end, we do tend to rely on henry quite a bit for goals, and if pires goes then that's a major source gone.

If RVP, Cesc & Reyes and all the others (hopefully Hleb) start banging them in the brilliant - the more the merrier, but Pires is reliable on the assists and in the goals for column.

OK - he may go on a free next year. If he does I wish him all the best, but when we reputedly have cash in the bank (cos we have a transfer kitty) - sod the cash and lets keep the goals. He can still do a brilliant job and cause other teams loads of problems.

there's no point selling players and hoarding cash if you don't spend money. keep Pires i say.

on a different note, is anyone else getting a bit pissed of with Wenger's bullshit?

i.e. he says something will or wont happen and then it turns out to be shite.

how many times are we been told that a decision will be made about Song and Christenval on such and such a date. a decision was expected yesterday, but no news...

Respectable, but they also reported that we had signed Baptista. Other sources said Song was a done deal. Let's wait for the horses mouth.

Other anonymous guy, Pires used to get a ton of assists - 15 in '00, 20 in '01. His ACL injury occurred near the end of that 01/02 season, and he hasn't been the same player since. Those of us who saw him in his prime are waiting for the old goal-creating Bob to re-emerge. It may not happen, but he's still one of the best wide midfielders in the Premiership. That's not easy to replace.

Pires has barely put in a tackle since his injury so I really don´t rate him anymore. Even though he´s scoring a lot of goals, what kind of an example does he set for the youngsters? That you don´t have to defend if you have a cute mustache and score occasionally?

I hate watching him duck out of 50/50 tackles and just let the opposition walk away with the ball. Besides if Cole had a midfielder that was able to help in defence he could be a lot more confident in going forward that someone was covering for him.

We need to be a little more aggressive I think

Cole wouldn't get caught out so often if Pires would cover for him, but one aspect that's invaluable is that Bob rarely loses the ball or gives it away, so he doesn't have to track back or cover as much. I CAN see your point. If you're not going to be that productive going forward, then you better cover your defensive duties. At times last season, I felt better about Clichy as a left winger than Reyes for that reason.

apparently wenger wants to purchase a coupla centre backs and a striker coz sendoros jus failed a routine drugs tests, he tested positive, they found seimen in his bum crack, and sol campbell is off i think, apparently he wants to move to italy but im not sure, and besides henry we have no real strikers, i mean yea ok reyes but his inconsistency means he cant hold down a 1st team place, bergkamp is too old to play everygame,

I hope he will stay. Important to keep the older players in the squad, since we have so many youngsters at the moment...
