Arsene Wants Achille

We are apparently set to challenge Lyon for the signature of Toulouse midfielder Achille Emana.

Lyon are desperately searching for a replacement for the recently departed Michael Essien. However, former Skipper Tony Adams was in the stands on a scouting mission from Le Boss.

"I am here for Emana," the former England and Arsenal captain told L'Equipe.

"Arsene Wenger asked me to come and see him play.

"I believe he is looking for a midfielder to replace Patrick Vieira."

Fantastic site...

But this doesn't sound very credible: Le Boss has mentioned in the last 24 hours that he will not be signing any outfield players (only a 'keeper); and Tony Adams now works at Feyenoord if I'm not mistaken, not for Arsenal....

its always nice to see when we are linked to some of europes hottest prospects. Ive not heard of this player before, but if Lyon are considering him as a replacement for Essien, then i say make a move Arsene and sign him up. £5 mill is cheap enough too surely for the gunners?

Yes, although Adams is quoted though, so that may mean that this story does have credibility...

Which club does Achille Emana plays for? looks like an Italian club to me through his jersey.

Similar built with Vieira too. But guys, remember when Arsene said he wont buy anymore players and not interested in Reyes? He bought Reyes in the next few days after that.

i think we should play toure in central midfield - and sign a centre back, maybe kompany, to challenge senderos and campbell...

Emana plays for Toulouse in France. Anon, i would love to see us sign Kompany as he is one of Europe's highest rated defenders. Imagine Sol, Kolo, Senderos, Kompany and goalscoring dynamo Cygan as our centre backs to call on. Apart from Cyagn maybe, thats mouthwatering. Shme it wont happen.

Seems there is no much water in this, might just be an agent trying to hype the price for the player so as to let lyon pay much.Cant believe, actuaally havent got his stats but looks 20
+1 or 2 or less.he cant come yet Song has also just moved. Its just an agent at work.TA works for Feyernood not Arse,Its just one of these stories that are always made up.Mean while BIG UP Cygan for that yester night.

think i probably agree with dan. don't think he'd have bothered with song on loan if we were gonna sign another CM. however, you never know with arsene, maybe he's seen something in song and decided he wants him to play centre back. wouldn't be something new for arsene to sign someone in one position and then notice he's better in a different one.

Jack, i do agree wholly with you but lets put Songs height into consideration. He is a cole's height of person.so just cant see him moving to CB,may be to Full back(right)I just think though a rotation may be put towards him,i see him taking Gilberto's role still.I would worry much to see a short CB,wont help us much.

Another factor is that Song is not yet 18, so he is very young and inexperienced. I dont know how old Emana is, but if he is 20-22 years old he would be a good signing. Theres no harm in having 5 central midfielders either, we had 5 last year and still struggled with injuries. Dont rule this one out yet.

Bla .. Bla .. Bla.
Im bored of hearing this n that. PV4's replacement is in Germany , not France , and his name is Michael Ballack.
Cheers

firslty, can't see arsene spending 10mil on a 29 year old. secondly, he's more of an attacking midfielder than PV4 so not really an adequate replacement. would love to see him at us but cant see it happening

Ballack sucks cock.

I was manager of Toulouse once in Football Manager.

Emana was top quality.

(that doesn't actually mean anythin though)

Jack right people...this is what it says....

Arsène Wenger has a new signing in his sights.

Ahead of the Fulham game, the Arsenal manager suggested that he would acquire only a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes on August 31. But, following the collapse of the deal to sign Sebastian Viera, he did not have a specific player in mind.

After Wednesday night’s victory, Wenger was a little more precise. “We are chasing a player, yes,” he said. “I’ll try to bring him in.”

When asked if this was to be a squad member or a first-team regular, the Frenchman replied: “We usually make them high-profile once they are here.”

Of course, the target in question could be an outfield player. The manager is keeping his cards close to his chest at this stage.

When any deal is officially completed, the first announcement will be on Arsenal.com.

If it IS true, considering the fact that Arsene loves his secrecy regarding transfers, I'd bet TA has probably done his last scouting job for us!

Emana Achille is 23 years old. If Lyon are considering him as an essien replacement, I am surprised we have not heard more of him in the past. 23 years old, in my opinion, seems to be the right age for Wenger to sign as a replacement for our departed skipper.

Wenger will sign Achille Emana and play him in goals

Adams does scouting work for Wenger he was at wolves to watch lescott.

the reason why wenger says he does not want to buy anyone is other clubs jump on board very quickly just like REAL and baptista, chavski and SWP and hleb.

also from a negotiating point of view if a club knows u want the player they will try to bring in other bidders to push up the price.

re emana, i have a friend in france who watches matches and he tells me emana is a very strong midfielder with pace but is raw. so after the Wenger touch he will become high profile.

re song he is not ready to play PL football yet. hes too small to be a CB and not physically strong enough to play CM. he has been bought on trial for the future.
