TH14: Give Them Time

TH14 has asked fans not to be too harsh on the youngsters at S*nderland tomorrow.

Le Boss will no doubt field a very young side as he rests the big Guns before Saturday's clash with the Spuds.

The Skipper said...

"You don't have a lot of players who arrive at 17 and are successful instantly.

"They have one or two years where they struggle as it's difficult to handle.

"When I was their age, I was in and out of the Monaco team and I found it difficult at times.

"Most people heard of me only after I was 19, but I started at 17. I would score one brilliant goal and then people would say: 'Where is he?'.

"After 19, I was more composed, more of a man and understood the game better."

"I remember when I came into the France national team with David Trezeguet and we were 19.

"If we'd all been 19 in the squad, what would we have done?

"But when you have the likes of Laurent Blanc, Didier Deschamps and Marcel Desailly to help you improve, [it is easier]."

When you see what Rooney is doing at the same age i have been disappointed by the young players

What has happened to Van Persie. When i used to see him play for Feyenord he looked class and was always involved in the play but hes been dissapointing recently. He hardly gets a touch. Even his shots aint like they used to be

Absolutely, patience is the key word here. You can't judge every young player by Rooney's standards because he is a one off (and a c*nt).

Its a problem for us in particular because so much is heaped on our young players and for some there is no-one pushing them or no-one available to replace them if they're jaded.

Nevertheless we have to cope until January. We can do it!

at feyernood, van persie started every game.

at arsenal he doesnt. u have to consider that.

he is definately one for the future, hes the only player in the current team who's not scared of taking a shot.....give him time....he needs a run of games....wonde if wenger would consider a 4-3-3 with bergkamp playing behind henry and van persie

There is this talk of this young lad "supposedly" training with Arsenal,
how good is he?
Do we really need to spend more on young players?
