Le Boss: Charity Game is 'Absolutely Scandalous'
Le Boss has labelled France's friendly against Costa Rica on November 9 in Martinique as "absolutely scandalous"....
The match has been organised by the French Football Federation and national coach Raymond Domenech to pay tribute to victims of a plane crash on August 16 which killed 152 Martinique born people, and to give the French national side an extra World Cup warm up match.
"From now until November 7, which is when the players will travel to Martinique, Arsenal will play eight matches in 24 days," AW told L'Equipe.
"I need somebody to explain what the real meaning of that match is, apart from the media or political side of it.
"Are the internationals truly lacking competition? Ideally this match should not take place at all. It's harmful for the clubs and for the players. It does not make sense.
"We are making the same mistakes as during the preparation for the 2002 World Cup when matches in Australia and Chile were organised. We saw what happened in South Korea.
"They (the FFF and the national coach) do what they want, as ever. This is absolutely scandalous and inexplicable but I was not expecting better from them.
"All the clubs must be gutted. People don't realise, they should see in what state the players are after playing with the national team.
"At some point it is necessary to respect those who pay you."

Another chance for injuries.
EXACTLY!
Not exactly a short trip either is it?? Fucking ridiculous.
I hope Titi fakes an injury.
Whats happening to Bobby? tiredness or is it that his weakness have been over exposed because of the weakness at the moment.
As I understand it, because it's not an official international, clubs don't have to release their players. It's sad about all those folk dying and I don't want to appear mean, but judging by how much we struggle when Titi's injured, I don't think Wenger should risk letting him go unless he's forced to do so.
this is ridiculous why all these meaningless friendlies i would take all the fringe players and see if they can make the world cup its not as if domenech needs to know if henry is any good
Mandy i do hope Domenech wont get pissed and lay Titi off like the way he has done to Bobby after that forgetful though filthy incident.
That would damage WC viewing
Has anyone asked Thierry what he thinks? His dad is from Guadeloupe which is about 100 miles from Martinique in the Carribean. I wonder what we'd think if it was a charity match for British victims of the Bali bombings or similar?
Mike.I was at the forum at Arsenal.com few minutes ago,its congested,am just waiting for an edited version laters.
As I said yesterday, I think international football should be scrapped.
The Lyon chairman made an interesting suggestion in that why not fly the Costa Rican team over here and they can play the match at their ground. That way the players don't have to travel so far and could be assured of playing on a quality pitch, thus reducing the chances of further injuries.
It's just another needless match though placing more pressure on the already stretched players.
Thierry wants to go, he said "he doubts that he'll miss it" or something....
The trip is worse than the game.
You would hope that in a friendly, it would be just that.
A friendly.
Not too many hard challenges etc.
But the journey - thats a different matter...it's a LONG haul and players are human. Fatigue is a big factor.
Henry's mom is from Martinique.
His mum maybe from Martinique, but does he know who his father is?
I'm certainly in the minority, but I don't agree with Wenger on this one. He had the same complaints about the Brazil friendly in Haiti. But that friendly lifted the entire country for a time. It's certainly not in the best interests of Arsenal, and I'd prefer none of our players go, but it isn't exactly "meaningless."
