Hleb Added to Injury List

Hi people, sorry I've been away for a while - but I've had a promotion at work and haven't had a chance to post.

The latest addition to our injury list is Hleb who picked up a knee injury playing for Belarus last week. He now apparently needs surgery to sort him out.

Le Boss said:

"Hleb will be out for six to eight weeks and he is due to have surgery on his knee,"

"I really can't remember having as many injuries as this but it is not a crisis," he added.

"We have lost many players over the break when we should have come back refreshed.

"For some it is a question of days, and others - like Ashley Cole and Hleb - it is a matter of six to eight weeks."

Who will start tomorrow?

Where is this season's Remi Garde/ David Platt/Gilles Grimandi? He may have failed to buy the world class players this summer but whatever happened to Wenger's policy of retaining a seasoned pro or 2 for periods such as the one we're going through when the squad was a bit lightweight due to injuries.

cesc took a knock midweek but he is available for the west brom match thank god did not mean to cause a panic, and anon 4.18 you ask were our pro is ala Remi Garde/ David Platt/Gilles Grimandi, well we never had an abundance of youngsters then now that old pro would just hold one of them back

mr serge, I'm all for giving the youngsters a go but what's the plan when we start losing those youngsters to injuries too because they're forced to play far too often? Great, Clichy & Senderos get a chance again but surely Cesc shouldn't have to play this weekend after picking up a small knock & having played so many matches recently. The kid's amazing but he's still a kid.

Ah nyssie you're back, good stuff. Was getting fed up of the 'le boss wont rush titi' headline. Congrats on the promotion.

Very disappointing with the injuries and such a shame for Hleb who was getting his chance to play and get to know his team mates. Thank god the internationals are over for a bit.

I think the onus is on reyes to get some goals certainly. He has been very impressive apart from the goal drought and deserves to get one. I've got a feeling he will score the early goal for us tomorrow. Come on Jose! Btw did anyone else see that pass he made for Torres last weekend? That was awesome, as was the finish.

Now the real football can start again. Internationals are so boring. COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's going to be a problem for Cesc to play Sat and against Prague - that'd be 4 in 10 days. That's just asking for him to break down.

Come on guys get a grip so we lost to West Brom, a poor result but look at it as valuble experience gained by the younger players. No-one could seriously argue that we were in the title race even before yesterday. The important target for us is champions league qualification and we are 5 points behind sp*rs with a game in hand.

We have been going through a particularly harsh period of injuries, not just to the number of players but how important players too. Yes it highlights the lack of depth in our squad but I think even chavski would feel the loss of Terry, Makelele, Drogba, del Horno and Duff. Yes their squad is huge but every team misses their best players and we're certainly missing ours.

The transfer policy of the summer for now looks to have backfired and I hope Wenger addresses this in January. I think when players start to return results will improve. It pains me to say it in October but the title race is definately over for us and probably everyone else. Lets get behind the team and push them to 2nd and bring Champs League to the Grove (also essential to keep Titi I believe.

I hope Titi isn't rushed back too soon. Yes we need him now but we need him for the rest of the season too and groin strains cannot be rushed. That aside what a lift it is to get those 2 back. Nice bit of wishful thinking from martin j*l as well

How can Arsenal seriously let Henry go out of contract before discussing a new one? He is at an age where he does not want to be part of a transitional phase at the club and Arsenal will never be able to match the financial offers that he will receive from Spain and Italy.
His friend PV has left and it looks like his other mate Pires will leave in the summer.

From a purely BUSINESS point of view, ignoring the heart, Henry has to sign now or be sold in January. The club cannot afford to lose £25m+ and let him leave on a free. This is too much of a gamble, and letting him go out of contract is NOT good financial sense.

Moan, moan, bitch, moan...You have a good couple of years without injuries and now that some of your players are out you complain like tarts. Other teams have had worse injury problems then you over the last few years and they just get on with it.

It is BAD management that you have problems. If you have the money the board claim to have, why sell Viera when he did not want to go? Why no transfers to build a depleted squad? BAD management and potential financial difficulties.
Anon 3:24 is right, how can you allow Henry to go out of contract? Potential financial suicide, you could lose £40m. BAD MANAGEMENT.

Gutted about the west brom result but it's good to see most people not panicking on this site.

How many times does a fantastic goalkeeping performance prevent Arsenal from taking 3 points?

Do you think it's just an issue of goalkeepers savimng their best for us, or is it that our strikers don't stick the ball in the right place?

I must admit I didn't see the game or highlights cos of a wedding, but I heard Kirkland was inspired.

rae...Stop living in the past. What the board did in the past is not what they are doing now.
You will find that Henry's contract is out at the end of this season, as this subject was discussed on Sky Sports.

Plus, the article in the Times states that Arsenal are in financial trouble if the new stadium does not go through as planned and they don't have success on the pitch.

Wenger has now admitted that selling Viera was a mistake. Add this to the lack of transfers in the summer, and now the injury problems and the defeats that have followed as a result of this decision, PROVES bad management.

A total fuck up.

Jack you have ruined this blog. It was a good footballing debate blog until you went on the Spuds blog and now those wankers are on here ruining it.

Thanks you fucking asshole.

The trouble is that there are more than one mistake.
You do not sell world class players, which Viera is, if you want to be successful. Can any Arsenal fan genuinely say that it was the correct decision. Selling Edu was the correct decision. It was obvious that these were poor decisions.
Not re-enforcing the squad when you know there is a long campaign ahead and the squad is young and low in numbers.
The stupid situation over the goalkeeping situation. The summer transfer policy has led to the mini crisis at the club.

In the past Wenger has been brill., but now there has to be serious questions asked about his decision making.

Plus, this new stadium is causing too many finacial restrictions and could be a big mistake. The money it may generate in the future is based on success on the pitch, as a mid-table team will mean low season ticket and sponsership sales.
