“Ashley is a leader, Dennis is a leader, Jens and Freddie too. So yes I think I’ll be an inbetween kind of guy. I will let the players know but I also have to do what I do on the pitch.
“I mean I don’t know if you have seen but I have been shouting even without the armband. Skipper or no skipper you have to handle someone having a go at you for a good reason. You all want the team to win. That is why I was mentioning the guys like Ashley, Freddie, Jens. They also have a part to play.
“But mainly I will always put my team first. I’ll always listen to what the guys have to say and if I can help my team I will do it.”

go on thierry do you think he will be as effective now he is captain or do you think it will not effect him?
I reckon it will affect him... in a good way -
A few (very few) times last season we saw him getting frustrated when a pass didn't come his way for one reason or another.
Now he won't really be able to show his frustration in that way, he'll have to be more constructive, which will help the team.
He was absolutely the right choice for captain.
Go on Thierry ... question is how many games do you think it will take him to beat wrighty's record?
Be nice for it to happen at Chelsea just to show them first hand that money can't buy them the best striker in the world, but I reckon it will probably come against everton or west ham.
After watching Tel's awful performance aginst Chelsea I think it is already affecting him for the worse.
I agree. He looked as though his heart was not in it. Then there was the money grabbing Cole and Sendeross looked out of his depth. With the fragile defence and light weight midfield and Henry's heart not in it, seems like a long season.
No signings, players not wanting to be at the club and Viera gone. What a shit season ahead.
I think we should have signed Peter Crouch to partner Henry; and make a bid for Dudek or David James.
We should get rid of Campbell now as he seems to be hanging around for another free transfer.
I agree, I think Dudek or James would be a good signing.
Lets face it. AW should have signed Davids as a replacement for Viera. He would have helped our young players over the next couple of years which would help the likes of Fabrigas.
Another mistake that helps the yids, like when AW did not sign Paul Robinson.

Henry is NOT a leader and his form will suffer as a result. I cannot believe that AW sold Viera without having a replcement lined up. Smacks that something is not right, particularly when David Dein was interviewed after the FA Cup and said that no way is Viera being sold. More lies from the club.
