Stadium Of Light

As we all know, we have been punching above our weight financially now for some time. However, with our new 60,000 seater home close to completion it won't be long before the cash starts rolling in and we'll be able to compete with the likes of ManUre...

“Potentially we are financially at a different level,” Wenger said yesterday.

"The project was vital because it was that or we would die on a longer term at the top level. It is a lot of money. It will increase the potential of the club. The board were brave and crazy and the gamble has paid off.

“When I arrived, I did not know if a 60,000 capacity was too big for us. I’m now convinced that, if we have a super team, it could be small. You feel we need a good team to keep the people happy. If we have a good team that plays quality football, we will have 60,000 every week.”

We will apparently need to draw crowds of at least 55,000 per week if we are to keep up the repayments on what we borrowed.

That is a little of a cornern if we have the odd transitional period. I think many of the glory hunters will disappear to pastures new.

Not that I think we will have a poor period though.

don't think it should be much of a problem drawing that sort of crowd. everyone will wanna go to the new ground including many tourists so it should be fine.

anyone else agree that if chelsea performed how we did on sunday, everyone would say how great they are for being able to win without playing well? also, everyone would say it was a definate red card and penalty. still, thought rvp's goal was pure quality. think he'll be ready to start soon. at least i hope so.

i dont think we will move in next season and be buying players like rio, rooney, ronaldinho, kaka etc straight away i think we will stay the same for at least 5 years or so, so we can repay the majority of the debt first then we can compete financially by 2010 i reckon when the youngster will be between 22-25 and the older players will be gone, ljunberg, silva, henry(waaa)campbell.this is when we will see arsenals financial muscle

here here nyssie!! we all know that for all the money they have they still cant compete with our history. all the old players coming out on sunday before the match is something they could never do, unless the precession lasted 2 seconds! however, was a bit puzzled as to why gus ceasar was there!! i'm only 22 so don't remember him too well but from what i've heard........

nyssie we should be loved as a club by the media we are fighting the power of 2 juggernaughts that are owned by russia and america respectively,we are not even a plc we are a huge underdog compared to these guys and as we brits love an underdog they should be more on our side but i say feck em we consistently punch above our weight, when we are more on an even par we will see who is the real deal in the prem

jack i will be rude on nyssies behalf gus ceaser was the worst player ever to wear an arsenal shirt in living memory, he went to brentford and flopped after he left us, he came through the same time as merse, adams, rocky, keown etc,

and he lost us the League Cup against the 'mighty' Luton in 1988 as well.. cant believe i still remember that...

Gus was bad but not sure if he was the worst - anyone remember Jimmy Carter or McGoldrick? but hey we're not here to knock The Arsenal boys..

i think we should get out of this victim mentality, guys. it's not a good look. no-one hates us. the press don't hate us. and yes, we have the higher moral ground because we have less money and play youth. the press, and media at large, for what it matters, realise this. trust me, chelsea will never get all the respect they want. history will remember them as the team that bought success, and when its over they will be forgotten about quickly, and never fondly remembered like Forest, Liverpool of even United.

Sure, we got stick at the weekend, but that becuase we looked short on the pitch. the press wanted us to make signings, to push chelsea, they are pissed off like us that we "appear" to have lost a little ambition. that's all. they'd love us to win really. the press often criticise becuase they want a reaction, bcuase they care about it - like with the national team.

So please, stop acting like victims, it sucks. we've had enough of that at the hands of radical muslims recently. i'm fucked off with the victim culture that is taking over society!!

we are arsenal and we are proud. and with the new stadium we have a bright future. lets leave it at that.

Since Wenger was said to have 30-40 million quid for transfers this summer, and he made at least 4 more (Vieira-(Hleb+Song)), I believe he'll accumulate enough money by 2007/8 to return all the club's debts on the new stadium. :)

the press are cowards. they always back the winning team regardless. success is objective. you can't argue against success so it makes an easy editorial line for the tabloids and their readers.

do you honestly think the press wouldn't fall off their collective chairs in glee if chelsea screwed up!! ha!! they'd love every minute of it!

in fact, i'm sure there's nothing they'd rather happen - however unlikely.
