POOM POOM POOM POOM I Want You In My Room....

It is being reported that Le Boss has ended his search for a keeper by swooping for Sunderland's Mart Poom.

A loan deal has been agreed until 1st December after which a permanent move will be discussed.

This guy apparently needs four more weeks on the treatment table...so WHO IS GOING IN GOAL FOR THE FIRST CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GAMES?!?!?! ALMUNIA?!?!

What the hell is going on people....?!?

i have been saying for a long while ,and i`ve been proved right, how can you call abloke who is not fit for amonth a signing.plus he is not the gk to push jens and almunia even if it`s not that hard to push almunia.i wish aw had not bothered in the end if he is the only person we could sign.

what r u talking about anon 3:49? you cant seriously think that the spurs supporters have something to boast about to us now do you. 1 worthless cup since 1991 compared to our 3 titles, 5 FA Cups, 1 coca cola cup and 1 European cup winners cup. do me a favour. even this season they're only a point ahead having played a game more. as for chelsea, who could n't win the league with an average of 10mil a month being spent in 2 years?

how can a GK fail a medical but sign for another team i.e.viera.but another GK who can`t play for four weeks because he`s injured, who`s 33 years old it is beyond a joke.not only will spurs supporters will be laughing at us but all the supports inthe league will.

we never signed viera because he is 5 foot nothing the failed medical thing is just a smokescreen, plus the medical is used to ensure you investment is not a cripple you can still sign him if he does not pass but will cost more to insure until he passes a medical down the line sometime,a good example of a club signing a player even though he failed a medical is real with woodgate, although i bet they wish they never at the mo

Another point to prove me right.i said here earlier about POOM some yids dis agreed,
To be real its sad to see Arsenal go for a third choice keeper of a newly promoted team.what a joke.
You are going to say he is good or he was good,i dont care what the f*k you gonna say but at the end of it all he is a third choice.worst, he is still on injury, for 4 weeks,so expect Almunia at goal, may be Wenger will bring in Vita Manone on bench during that game to back Almunia.another revelation of Wengers inability to sign a good keeper.

4:31 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

can someone tell me why AW bothered buying a third choice g golaie
and an injured one at that
laughing stock

4:34 PM

Poom's on £40k a week, fellas, so thanks for saving us a fortune!!!

4:35 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Poom was a decent keeper a few years back. But I have to say that anyone who questions Wenger is a cunt.

Look at what the man has done for this club, he has never signed great keepers so lets get on with it. Look at the state the club was in when wenger took over.

Wenger is a legend.

hmmmm, Poom good loan signing will tie us over for a while, in case you lot forgot he done a hell of alot a derby a few years back and helped them stay up, United even tried to sign him, it may be a case of get someone better than almunia till jan or next year and then get who we really want (ie isaksson)

also viera did 'fail the medical' because he was only 5 foot or something like that, the reason they didnt pick up on it when he was discussing personal terms was coz we talked to him agent and not him directly therefore we didnt see him till the medical

Spurs fan here, I cannot stop laughing, your new hero poom. why dont you all come back at me about how many titles & cups you have won, but the fact is its all history just like your pathetic team now. Sunderlands 3/4th choice keeper how funny is that. we beat you to defoe, carrick & now jenas & to think we used to be the laughing stock. once you fail to make the champions league this season & henry leaves you, we can just sit back watch you go broke then buy the new stadium off the administrators for a £10. ha ha ha ha ha ha

4:37 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't really know what the hell Wenger is thinking. A dude who hasn't played a single game since October 2004 to cover for Jens and Manuel while he is injured for about four weeks to go... And Jenas signed for the Spurs today, so who is Wenger's promised Vieira-replacement. And how will he sign that player before midnight?

Wenger, you'd better be up to something really good, cause I don't get this. You DO have the money, but why don't you use it? Will you wait untill the winter-transferwindow?? That might just be too late to save the season...

How about we get rid of Wenger and get fucking Joll in? you cunts would soon be moaning then. That great stadium we are about to move in to that we all fucking will love would not have been possible without wenger astuteness. He is the most successfull amanger this club has ever seen since you have been alive so get off his back you cunts.

Really dont have a clue what Monsiuer Wenger is thinking. He's signed a 3rd choice keeper. Everybody knows 'Arsene Knows' but do we - he said he wasn't going to panic buy or just buy someone for the sake of it? WTF!! He let Stuart Taylor/Graeme Stack go which leaves us well thin on the ground keeper wise & signs a bloody 33 yr injured keeper. Really dont not understand the logic there. Anyone waiting for those '2 more world class signings' AW was on about in pre-season can now feel short changed. I just dont see why AW just didnt say 'we fcked, we got no cash so we have to rely on what we got until we get into the new stadium' would of saved alot of fcuking about & brain ache.

i think a lot of Gooners are misguided with the fact of cash. I dont believe we have any at all. If we did why didnt AW sign a WORLD CLASS KEEPER. We can talk about we should sign Owen & Jenas etc..etc...- but i dont reckon we've got a pot to piss in until the new stadium.

I make you right whoever said AW had 3 months to sign a keeper.... and signs a fcuking injured one at that... cheers Also to the geezer who said 'get behind your team' fella we are - that's why ALL us lot want The Arsenal to do well & thats why we dont understand no reinforements were made - especially now signing this keeper.. I would of preferred AW didnt buy anyone in that case. Poom is out for 4wks he is on loan to Jan - the fcuker might not even get a game.

Go on Spurs fan! Have your laugh! It's the same thing at the beginning of every season! All smiles and optimism blah blah blah.

This season is no different, and as usual, you'll end up way below us in the table, out of both cups early and fighting to stay above our real rivals, Fulham, Charlton, West Ham etc. In other words, the teams who actually give us a game! Enjoy the Intertoto next season!

4:54 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Serge...Grow up. The scout must have told AW his stats., eg height, etc..
No club will agree to sign a player without a full report on them, and the manager would have wanted to have seen videos of him if he could not get to see him in the flesh.

Grow up and talk some sense. You are just embarrassing yourself on here now.

Someone calling others a cunt is much of so than any.let me put it straight, when even the most succesful manager in football looses plot, the faithful's have to voice it out.Someone put it right here, after three months of searching,AW pulls a keeper who is third choice and injured to cover for Jens who is suspended and Almunia who hasnt fully recovered what a blow.so we are left with may be Manone or some lad to cover us agin what a joke.AW is rigid with cash, all of us sh'd realise that.going for someone on loan makes that argument. There was some keeper AW signed again in 2003,4get his name,he was about 33+ can some one remember,he never made it and was realised, what a shame when it comes to keepers.

But since when was the League table/title decided on the signings ?

So I still remember a couple of years ago when we 'only' bought Lehmann, got criticised in all quarters of the press (and allegedly some gooners ?), everyone predicting us to finish way behind Chelsea, Man U and possibly Spurs. What happened ? Unbeaten Champions ! So let's not just talk rubbish for the sake of it while the league's not on....

get your point Ollie but things have moved on now - it isn't just us, Man USA & now Chelski. The gap has closed & we have arguably lost a world class player in PV4 add to that Edu as he done the job when asked. Teams like Liverpool & even Sp*rs are closing - we cant keep saying last year, the year before that etc. We wont be remembering that when we aren't top or second. Sp*rs as much as it kills me to say this have made a couple of good signings & will give us more of a game this season.

The one thing i dont understand is we our funded each year by our Euro exploits (abeit not as far as we'll all like to see us go) & finish top or 2nd for the last 8 years or so HOW THE FCUK can Sp*rs be spending more on players?

5:10 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ollie i do agree with you.But lets also be realistic,Man-usa which were our only threat by then were on a blip, now we have chel$ki.I dont consider spurs league rivals, they are more of Worthington rivals, where they play against Cygan,Almunia,Grimandi if he was stil around and our young lads, but again they get beaten, what a shame spuds.

any keeper you have to drop for 3 months becuase he's loosing the plot can only be considered "ok" in my book.

it seems that Wenger is a spendthrift when it comes to keepers and his track record sucks hard (hence his blindspot).

mow is right wenger's weakness is that he cant spot a keeper if he came up and kicked him in the bollocks, i dont think stewart taylor did much wrong he bided his time and got nowhere we should have kept him instead of sighning poom, saying that with over 100 players coming through the club since wengers arrival 70% have been good and the top 15% excellent that went on to be world class players, overmars is the only established superstar we have bought since wenger came

I'm getting so bloody sick of all the whining this summer.

If I hear "why didn't we sign Owen, why didn't we sign Jenas booohooohoo" one more time I'm likely to shoot myself.

Maybe I should, because we're obviously doomed and bound for relegation from the sound of it.

It's pretty clear that Poom is a temporary solution as backup keeper. We have signed him on a loan deal ffs.

Lehmann has been one of our best players both at the end of last season and the the games so far this season. There's no need to panic.

We will bring in someone either in January or next summer to be Jens' permanent replacement. Viera wasn't the right man, and you don't sign a player that young as a temporary solution.

It's not as simple as going on buyafootieplayer.com, search for "world class keeper" and click "Buy" which people seem to think. Wenger has the balls to be patient and think about the long term and I think that's something to be proud of as an Arsenal fan.

We need to have a little faith. There's an ugly bunch across town in blue shirts for you people who seem to think that big name signings is the only thing that matters.

heya, sunderland fan here, have any of u slating poom even seen him play? He has one of the hugest presences in d goalmouth dat iv ever seen in a keepa. Also one of the best close range shot stoppers iv ever seen. never afraid to come off his line to claim balls, n neva afraid to knock players lyk defoe mido or keane outa his way 2 get 2 the ball at corners, crossin oppertunitys etc. i just wish bloody kelvin davis (our so called poom replacement wud come off his line once in a while). gud old mart is no longa in the team because there is a long running feud with him and the assistant boss and if u no anything about sunderland football club, any player who argues with the staff even if hes rite, n arguin alongside the fans views (as poom was) they neva play again for the club, e.g. poom, johnston, bridges and phillips (until reid left), summerbee, makin, bould, quinn (reteired because of it), the list goes on.
So in summary, poom is possibly one of the greatest keepas sunderland have ever seen and will do you proud, im so sad to see him leave.

Good post d.

Now for whatever reason, Wenger was let down on the Viera signing and it didn't happen. This meant that Wenger had about 2 weeks to get in a keeper, as the deal for his main target went tits up.

As has been pointed out world class keepers don't grow on tree's, so the guy has gone out and got a stop gap and in my opinion a decent 1 at that. The guy might be 3rd choice at Sunderland but again as has been pointed out already, this is not for ability or footballing reasons.

Lets also be clear, Lehman is in good form right now and hasn't let us down for a long time - a lot of people go on about success is always in the past and so is history, well for the time being atleast so are Lehman's cock up's. The guy is currently on top of his game, but you are all so blinded by your rage about lack of signings to realise this. Therefore in Poom we have signed a BACK UP for the time being, we had a gap that needed filling and Wenger has done this in the short term and there are all these complaints about us signing a back up keeper to be exactly that - a backup !! In the same breath people are saying why did we let Taylor and Stack go ???? Yet what are these two guys ??? They are backups even at their new clubs and in Stack's case that is in the Championship !!!! So you gripe about their loss and then gripe about us signing a backup who actually has Premiership and International experience !! Wenger can't win really can he ?? Before you say he should have signed a world class keeper please remember my original post - his initial target fell through so he was left with 3 weeks - so getting a world class keeper in that time would have been a big big ask.

As for Owen - would you really have been happy with that ??? An over the top style striker who has dodgy hamstrings - do you really think that would have represented good value at £30million ( fee and wages) ??

Poom is only 3rd Choice at SAFC because of his wages and MM is building for the future. At 33, he's too old to feature long term, but still a great keeper when fit. For SAFC, its great to get a huge wage off the payroll and loan signing Hoyte is quality cover for the back 4. Just because Arsenal have signed a player from the bottom team in the league doesn't make him crap. FTM
