Le Boss: "I Am Still Looking..."

The Gaffer has not ruled strengthening the squad before the end of the transfer window.

Speaking to Arsenal.com earlier he said;

“My only target was Julio Baptista. I wanted to get someone who can add goals and can be a force in the midfield. I did not want a technical player because we have technical players in the middle.

“I am still looking but you can’t easily find these players. I don’t want to buy a player just to buy a player. In my opinion this team has a super talent and we will only buy if someone will get the team to a different level.”

what about Diop The senegalese in the middle of fulhams park, i think is the ideal replacement... strong can tackle, tall and shoots pretty good aswell...

I rate the wardrobe too. In a good side he would be a quality player. Built like a brick shithouse. He was mentioned when we were looking for a replacement but nothing came of it. To be fair though we were linked with every midfielder in the world.

isnt it kinda funny that AW was going to pay 17 million for a "non-technical" player!! Basically he is saying we need a brute to compliment the finesse we apready have

Thats exactly what Le Boss is saying. We need tough guys who wouldnt mind going down for the odd tackle. Get a CB Arsene, and get it quick!

Well well well....the season is up and running. To be honest, apart from us signing Hleb, I have been disapointed that we have yet to sign a strong holding player to give cesc & gilberto some breathing space...coz lets face it, their not likely to stay injury free for a whole season!
However, with our first 11, we can compete with anyone (no matta how many players chelski buy)... we should see RVP starting more games as Bergkamp looks pretty shatterd by half time!
Im quietly confident about the game this weekend at the bridge... but we really really do need one more signing (and still possibly a striker!)
(good to see ya back nyssie!)

Yeah work gets abit boring when i cant put my point of view over regarding Arsenal!... i was hoping Mr Wenger was reading my comments over the last few months in regards to buying Owen and signing a SOLID CM....but obviously not! oh well....cant win em all !

He wont sign Diop, he wont sign Owen and unless someone goes he wont buy a centre back. He will get a keeper, but other than that he is relatively happy with what he has got.

He knows we need something different in attack, thats why he went for Baptista who could have played in midfield or up front and he would have been a battering ram of a player. We didnt get him, so now AW is looking for someone along those lines, and unless he finds someone as good or better than Baptista there will be no more outfield signings for us.

I am beginning to come to terms with our current squad, and although i do not think we will win anything I have decided it is time to stop worrying and get behind the team.

Every one of us has views. I personally think we needed a midfielder, Aw has bought Song. Maybe the 17 year old is outstanding? I dont know, we will see. It is risky to rely on a 21 year old and two teenagers. Up front i would still like to see us buy someone who can head the ball, but realistically it is not going to happen. It seems AW needs to sign the perfect complete striker so that along with aerial ability and power the player has to be technically excellent. I wouldnt complain if we signed Benni Mcarthy (great european experience, good header, technically good). Maybe AW has a target man type lying in wait though. Niklas Bendtner (reserve/youthplayer), the 17 year old, is already towering above many of his opponents and perhaps he could be fast tracked into the team if we struggle.

It has been a disappointing summer, but I say lets just get on with it now and support the team. Rarely has AW got it wrong, and yes it would be a shame if he got it wrong this season with it being our last one at Highbury, but let's get behind him and the team and hope for the best... Oh and no injuries - that would be most welcome.

well thats the catch. NO injuries. I cant even dare imagine what would happen if Gilberto and Henry both go injured. If Toure goes injured at the same time as well, then bid farewell to all trophies. We need depth. Teenagers cant play all season injury free. They actually cant physically play all season full stop.

I am not being negative or anything. I came to terms with the current squad. It is not that bad after all and am getting behind my team all the way.

Just a little bit worried about the lack of depth in defence and midfield.

i can be wrong but if owen stays at mudrid, it wont be a surprise that baptits mite turn up to arsenal for the lack of 1st team action (next year's world cup year so i guess every1 will be ranting for first team places! lets see how moanrino copes with those rants! some of them have started coming in too[carvalho])!!!
lets hope for the best
btw has anyone seen the mongeldach kid in action ? supposedly askin for 15 mill euros....too much for a 19yer old!

Still looking...that's all that AW ever does. Sell top players with no one already lined up, and now clubs know how much money we have to spend.
AW is past his sell by date.
