Ribery To Arsenal?
I don't usually post stories about speculation, but.....reports out this morning suggest that we have tabled a late bid for Marseille star Franck Ribery. ManUre have already had a £9M bid rejected. Now THIS is a player I would LOVE to see join Arsenal. I first saw him play for the France under 21's against England a while back - and he was head and shoulders above every other player on the pitch.

Cant get excited about Song - although I imagine the last comment was a tad sarcastic! One thing to bear in mind though...we've seen him play, what, 5 - 10 times max. AW sees him daily - and remember Arsene knows....!!!

Nissye is correct, Ribery was in a car accident when he was a toddler.
I think that Cole leaving this summer is a done deal. The question is where and for how much: Chelsea or Real Madrid. Arsenal wants Real Madrid, Cole wants Chelsea.
Regarding the left back berth, there are some legitimate questions about the fitness of Gael Clichy who has had another operation in US and may not be fit at the beginning of the new season.
Flamini could deputise but he is also currently injured so we need somebody else in case he does not recover for our qualification game.
Armand Traore is considered to be too green yet to be plunged in the premier team.
Justin Hoyte could do a job, but he is definately not a left back.
The choice is between the Italian and Juventus left back Giorgio Chiellini 21 and the Lens left back Assou-Ekotto. Asso-Ekotto seemed to be the preferred choice, but he may more difficult to get. Also, Essou-Akotto has decided that he wants to play for his country of origin rather than France, which could be long travel and missing game because of jet-lag, less likely to happen than for the Italian.
