SWP Signs For Chelski
I know this isn't really related to AFC, but....Shaun Wright-Phillips has signed a five year deal with Chelski. All I can say about that is..... money talks. Do Chelski need another winger? Do they fuck! They simply buy up all the players they don't want to play against...and job done. Easier games for them.
They have reportedly paid £21M for him. Now don't get me wrong, I think SWP is a class player - but he is NOT worth £21M, not yet anyway.
Oh well...!

I hate Chelsea!!
In fairness Chelski did need a right winger. Im dissapointed, really expected SWP to be an Arsenal player, but thats never gonna happen and never was ever since Roman showed up and throws his cash around willy nilly.
He's an extremely over-rated player. One good season and he's supposedly as good as Joaquin or Schweinsteiger, do me a favour. I'd take Alexander Hleb over him anyday of the week. £21m is a complete rip-off, Chelsea might not care now, but they might well in the future.
In the end it's a world cup year and he's chosen to start the season on the bench. Will he displace Robben or Duff?
S'pose the chance of champs league football is the biggest lure (apart from the cash).

I dont think it will be another Scott Parker story. He may not be worth 21 mill, but he will flourish at the russians, sadly. He may not play all the time, but when he does he will be a great player for them and yet another nail in the coffin of English football is hammered in by this Chelsea Empire. Give it a few more years and they could monopolise the League we love, I hate them

lets not forget tho, unless Chelsea buy FIFA, they can only have 11 players on the pitch at once, so who cares if they buy 1029832 midfielders, they wont all get to play and the dressing room bitching will begin.

If Wrighty was in Chelsea's corner, what chance did we have? Bizarre. If it was between SWP and Hleb, I'm happy that we got Hleb.
It don't matter about swp, now we have old senderos we'll be able to defend, and i rekon that hleb will be another one of arsenes brilliant finds, he'll be better than swp, he might not be considerd better as he plays for us but we will win unbeaten next year.
I would rather pay that sought of money for kaka or david danciger!!!!!!
Since we've bought Hleb, there was no chance of SWP made an offer for. hleb is probably 5 times the player (creatively) that SWP is.

My biggest fear is that AW thinks the squad is strong enuf without buying any new recruits.
we've made this mistake in post championship seasons and looked wanting big time.

SWP is not worth half that transfer fee.
21 million is a fee for a world renowned superstar, or a sensational young talent.
SWP is neither. The only reason he gets the hype he does is because he's English.
indi, we need one, not two for centre mid. Don't want to stunt the development of Fab and Flam. On the other hand, agree to an extent about not freshening up, mainly due to a problem of depth the past three seasons. Le boss couldn't foress injuries to Edu and Gilberto, AND Vieira off form. We were fairly lucky in this regard in the unbeaten season.
What I can't understand with SWP is if he has England ambitions... I mean, he'd share time with Freddie this season, but Freddie's 28... Well, we'll see how Bentley's progressed - he looks like a player without a position at the moment - unless he's loaned out.
Wright Phillips is a class player, how can you say he's over rated didn't you see his goal against Arsenal ?? Or his goal against Aston Villa ??
Yes 21 Mill is over priced, but if Arsenal had signed him for that, you know what i'd still be hapy with the acquisition becuase he would have been perfect for our style of play due to his pace and skill. I dont care what anyone says, he will be a great player for Chelsea, and as £21 mill means about 21p to Roman the price does not matter. Their gain, is ours and everyone else's loss.
I would have had SWP over Hleb anyday of the week as a right winger. SWP knows the league and wouldnt have taken anytime to settle in. I have no doubts that hleb will be a fine player for us, but come on SWP is by far the better option if we are being honest.
I agree with Indi, if Arsene feels the current squad is capable of winning the League, then he is unfortunately wrong. We do not have ONE physcical midfielder... Wenger really needs to get in and get the Beast before its too late. If he fails that, then Diarra's got to be his next option.
WE ALSO NEED A KEEPER DESPERATELY! Theres not been any news regarding and experienced keeper all summer. This worries me. If Arsene thinks Lemon and Almoronia can do a job then he is insane. Last season these two may well have cost us leage glory. Almoronias antics Vs United spring to mind.
Come on Arsene, things need to be done, and quick. Youve already missed out on SWP, a player you openly said you wanted, so get the Beast and a keeper before its too late and end our worries.
