Are We On the Verge of Signing Baptista?
It is being reported that we are on the verge of signing Julio 'The Beast' Baptista. A second bid of around £13.5M was rejected by Sevilla yesterday, but it is claimed that we are very close to reaching a deal which will see Baptista move to N5."It looks increasingly clear that he will not remain at Sevilla," admitted club president Jose María Del Nido.
'Sevilla accept that the 23-year-old will leave this summer and a deal is set to be finalised soon’ reported Saturday's Guardian, with The Times adding: 'The clubs are very close to reaching agreement on a fee of about £15million, although they are haggling over the payment schedule.
'Arsenal will pay an initial fee, with further instalments that will be in part conditional on success in Europe. The deal is also conditional on Baptista obtaining a work permit. He has 11 caps for Brazil and is applying for a European passport.'

If we sign baptista as a replacement for vieira I think he wont dissapoint. He is as if not more of s physical pressence then vieira but i still have doughts over technical ability. He is more of an attacking midfielder in my oppinion. He may not be vieirs's replacement, maybe he will go up front with henry with reyes left wing and pires central or maybe ljunberg or hleb central? I dont know, only time will tell.
it would be the smare thing to do put baptista up front.look how many goals he scores.reyes left wing, helb, gilberto center and ljumberg/pires right wing.pires is getting old and not as competative as he used to be.

The only thing swinging in Arsenal's favour is that The BEAST likes to play for us. He wants to team up with Reyes again.
I think there is a very likelihood of that happening as Reyes has signed on until 2011.

i dont think julio is paddy's replacement we were linked with him before the pv4 saga kicked off. he is a striker n we should play him there. he will act as a huge cover for TT, lets be honest when he doesnt play we lack teh cuttin edge, just look at the cup final. he offers us something different in attack, in my opinion a brilliant addition if we get him. as for paddy's replacement, longterm i c gilberto n cesc, we need cover n i can see either a youngster or a squad player brought in. wenger knows what he is doin, the squad needed a re shuffle n now it is gettin on! come on u gunners!
