Philippe Christanval Joins On Trial

Story taken from arsenal.com....

Arsenal included two unfamiliar faces in the team for Saturday's friendly at Barnet FC.

Philippe Christanval has joined on a week's trial after he was released by Marseille at the end of June. The 26-year-old centre back won the French title during a four-year spell with Monaco.

He then joined Barcelona and his form at the Nou Camp was impressive enough to earn him six full caps for France. However, injury hampered his move to Marseille and they parted ways by mutual consent recently.

The other new boy was Vito Mannone. The 17-year-old keeper has signed for Arsenal from Italian side Atalanta.

Arsenal starting eleven against Barnet: Howard, Hoyte, Christanval, Cygan, Lauren, Reyes, Hleb, Flamini, Henry, Bergkamp, Pires.

Christanval was extremely highly rated when he signed for Barca. Bye, Cygan? I guess we'll see.

I guarantee you he´s a better player than Pascal. He has the tools to become a great centreback for Arsenal, and he wont cost us a thing.

sounds like a typical wenger player, great reputation when younger, things went a bit wrong mid career, still young, still able to improve and get back to where he was expected to be (much like tel)

I remember this guy when he played for barca, seemed prity good then. Lets face it he cant be any worse then cygan. Would be good backup in defence. We can then ditch cygan what useless cunt.
