Denilson: "It Has Been A Dream For Me..."
New boy Denilson is hoping that it isn't too long before he makes his competitive debut for the Club. Speaking earlier this week the young Brazilian had this to say...
"It has been a dream for me since I was young to play in Europe, but I never imagined I could sign for a club like Arsenal so early in my career.
"I am going to try to my maximum and I want my football to mature here.
"I really think I can become a champion with Arsenal and make it into one of the best players in the world."
"The manager has said I have real quality, with a good touch and good technique.
"He says that now I just have to adapt so I can start to play in the first team.
"In Brazil, you would not really get kicks like I did for the reserves - if a player had done that to me at home, then he probably would have got a red card.
"But this is English football, the players are very strong and the tackles are very strong. You just have to take one or two touches so you do not get tackled in the same way."

I've seen a few people commenting on how good he looks and can only ask the question, how do you know?? I for one have never seen the lad play and unless you frequent games in South America I guess you haven't either.
At A guess I would say the comments have been made after seeing him play for the reserves. Last I heard the Arsenal reserves were still playing in the UK and not South America.
The dream came through top gooner herdeep stringy from headley giving denilson a bit of headley on his arrival. What better way to settle in...
He played a reserve game against Pompey, and by all accounts he was the bollocks.
Great passer, marshalling the midfield - a natural leader apparently. He is the captain of the Brazil under 19's after all!
Whilst I obviously hope he is as great as being mooted anon 10.02 I just find it a little premature to be hailing the kid as a world beater because some bloke (probably Denny's dad) said how wonderful he was against Portsmouth reserves.
If you saw him first hand Jack, then happy days. I hope he turns out to be as good as you say. Did Fran Merida play in the same game by any chance??
Who was the other kid who we loaned out last season?? Another S.A I believe.
The player who has really impressed me this year in the reserve is Alexandre Song.
He is getting stronger and his distribution is really improving.
I could see him as a replacement for Gilberto in the future.
With Batista/Diaby as other central midfield player possibility, it looks like our future central midfield could have some physical bite.
Merida looked good, but I think he is at least 18 months away from the first team. Not enough meat on him and too many party tricks, 6 months in the reserve and the carling cup, 12 months loaned in a championship/premiership club learning how to be kicked, and he should comeback ready to fight for an appearance in an Arsenal shirt to supplement Fabregas.
